Here's a true story I wrote about four years ago. The names have been changed. This is what happened. It was holiday time. Meeting old and new friends was the order of the day. Allow me to introduce you to a friend. Scooter was his name. Dating was his game. At a get-together he was looking for the new Miss Right. He eyed a woman from across the room and blurted out over the din of conversations... "Hey, you look familiar. Have we met?" People smiled at Scooter's obvious outgoing nature and the woman's knowing shrug. It became a game of sorts. A few minutes later, Scooter blurted out across a dozen heads... "I know I know you. Where did we meet?" The woman still just smiled and shrugged.
"We have met haven't we?" said Scooter. "I believe we have," said the mystery woman. "Okay," said Scooter having fun with the discourse. "Where do you work?" he inquired. "I am a nurse at the STD Clinic downtown." (This is not the actual photo of a real life situation.) Scooter paused. Blinked. Then his eyes flew open and he jumped back pointing at her in recognition, "That's where it was. You were my nurse." Unfazed by the unconventional reunion, Scooter and the nurse ended up dating for over a year. When you attend functions full of people, don't be afraid to follow Scooter's lead and put yourself out there. It's the fastest way to make an impression and you never know whom you'll meet.
